Projects which I have been involved with during my career with McKendry Hunt Architects have won numerous design awards including:

  • 1998 Master Builders Association Award for best Alterations & Additions to a residence in a Heritage Conservation Area (for a renovation and extension of 83 Kenrick Street, Merewether)
  • 2003 Winner of the Lower Hunter Civic Design Award for best Alterations & Additions to a residence in a Heritage Conservation Area. (for an upper floor addition at 29 Light Street, Bar Beach)
  • 2004 Winner of MBA Award for best Alteration & Addition project under $100,000 contract value.
  • 2006 Finalist HIA Best Custom Designed House under $700,000 contract value (for a new house at 169 City Road, Merewether)
  • 2006 Winner HIA Bathroom Project of the Year Award (for a new house at 169 City Road, Merewether)
  • 2006 Winner HIA Best Bathroom Project over $20,000 contract value (for a new house at 169 City Road, Merewether)
  • 2006 Winner HIA Best Spec Home under $200,000 contract value
  • 2007 Winner HIA Award, Best Project Home between $200-$350,000 contract value (for a new house within the Heritage Conservation Area at Lorn)
  • 2008 Finalist MBA Awards for Excellence. Best Kitchen under $15,000 contract value
  • 2008 Finalist MBA Awards for Excellence. Best Kitchen under $30,000 contract value
  • 2008 Finalist MBA Awards for Excellence. Women in Building Recognition Award (client nominated)
  • 2009 Winner MBA Awards for Excellence. Women in Building Recognition Award (nominated by the MBA)
  • 2009 Winner of Master Builders Association MBA Awards for Excellence, best Medium Density Dwellings, (small scale) for 2 new dwellings (Dual Occupancy and then a subdivision) on the corner of Morgan and Lingard Streets, Merewether-opposite the Prince of Wales Hotel.
  • 2010 Winner of MBA Award for Excellence for Best Alteration & Additions under $350,000 Contract Value. (for project at 45 Scenic Drive, Merewether –off Gregory Crescent- shown below)

Debra McKendry-Hunt was Team Leader, and Associate in charge of the design and documentation of many large commercial projects.
Projects include buildings of an Industrial nature, Hospitality projects, Corporate fitouts, and Educational Buildings, as well as many large scale Multi Unit Residential projects.
Projects range in scale from $4million to $40 million.
